Automatic transfer of product data to MS Dynamics 365 FO

CoreFace for MS Dynamics 365 FO
Triggering CoreFace via approval or change process
The transfer of master data via CoreFace can be initiated either via an approval process (promotion request) or via a change message (change notice). If ERP connectors with distribution targets are used as triggers, CoreFace is triggered by uploading ESI files to an Azure Blob. Alternatively, so-called outbound calls can be sent directly from Windchill workflows. One advantage of distribution targets is the ability to write back the result of a transfer to the distribution target.
Product master and engineering version
Parts are managed in MS Dynamics 365 FO as Product Masters. Changes to a product are mapped using Engineering Versions. The connector’s functions synchronize the part revision in Windchill with the version in MS Dynamics 365 FO. An engineering version can be created either directly or via an engineering change order (ECO). CoreFace’s flexible mapping is used to map the desired attributes from Windchill to the fields in MS Dynamics 365 FO.
Engineering Change Order (ECO)
The counterpart to the Windchill change message is the engineering change order in MS Dynamics 365 FO. If necessary, an engineering change order is created in MS Dynamics 365 FO via the MS Dynamics connector. The number of the change message and the engineering change order are usually kept the same. CoreFace is still able to use the Windchill connector to read the change message in Windchill, including affected and resulting objects, in a change task and transfer the changes to the product data (parts, bills of material, document changes) to an engineering change order in MS Dynamics 365 FO.
Engineering Bill of Materials (BOM)
The CAD structure defines the design bill of materials. PTC Windchill automatically creates a corresponding parts structure from the CAD structure. With the CoreFace connector for MS Dynamics 365 FO, an engineering BOM is created directly in MS Dynamics 365 FO from the PTC Windchill parts structure. If the parts structure changes in Windchill, the change can be transferred fully automatically to MS Dynamics 365 FO via a change notification in Windchill (ECN). This can be done either directly or via an engineering change order in MS Dynamics 365 FO.
Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM)
If a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) intended for production in a plant has been derived from the EBOM in Windchill via MPMLink, a corresponding bill of materials can be created in the desired entity (plant or subsidiary) via CoreFace and the MS Dynamics connector. If these bills of materials change, the changes can be synchronized either directly or via ECO.
Documents
MS Dynamics 365 FO allows documents to be added as attachments to product items. This makes it possible to transfer document data from Windchill to MS Dynamics 365 FO via CoreFace. Neutral formats such as PDFs of CAD drawings, CAD models, or STEP files are usually attached to the product item in MS Dynamics 365 FO. This allows product description documents to be further processed for the procurement and production process.
