Reference summary report

Empowering RME’s Digital Transformation with a seamless integration of Windchill PLM and Microsoft D365 F&O — delivered 100% remotely across 13,500 km, enabling cleaner data, streamlined processes, and a single source of truth.

Initial situation

  • RME was undertaking a large system upgrade project
  • It involved upgrading Microsoft AX4 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finops and PDM Professional to Windchill PLM
  • Neither source systems where integrated originally
  • It was RME’s desire to move to a future state of PLM and ERP integrated from the item master and item BOM perspectives

Customer requirements

  • Quality improvement of master data
  • Allow Item and BOM integration via workflow
  • Revision sync between PLM and ERP
  • Compatibility with Microsoft Dyanmics 365 Finops.
  • Low maintenence once configured

What was implemented

  • The interface allows the automatic creation or modification of products, product masters, and bills of materials in ERP, along with using Windchill classification data to determine correct ERP engineering product categories (templates).
  • The transfer is process-driven from the multiple workflow driven processes and manual trigger points.
  • All data is validated before integration via some rulesets configured during implementation.
  • Innoface and RME have performed several upgrades to enhance the integration.

Customer benefits

  • Having the ability to validate and QA before push, has allowed data to be more accurate and less prone to costly rework – or bad data transacted in the ERP.
  • A single directional flow of data from PLM to ERP has streamlined the process.
  • Flexibility in the way an item or bom is pushed, allows us to cater for processes that have been created after the initial implementation.
  • Ability to synchronize lifecycle and revision between PLM and ERP has introduced benefits of more trust worthy data, production and purchase orders.
  • The time for master data management has reduced as the data is treated as single source of truth and only edited in PLM.

Customer feedback

“The IFConneX package has been a flawless and robust integration for our Engineering and production teams. We have been able to speed up and remove wasteful rework regarding product data between our major systems. Having trust in the data between ERP and PLM is worth it in the long run. The interface is maintenance free and easy to use for all our end users.”
